At Spire Cycles, hand-built wheels have been at the core of what we do from the very beginning. I’ve been building wheels since the age of 14, and over 37 years I’ve built thousands of wheels of all types, including batches for World Cup and UK professional teams.

Every wheel I build meets the same high standard, with each spoke individually checked for tension multiple times throughout the build. While this takes longer, it ensures accuracy, durability, and maximum performance—because with wheels, detail is everything.

All wheels are built to order, allowing each build to be tailored to the rider’s weight, riding style, and budget. This approach delivers exceptional durability and performance, and today it’s possible for hand-built wheels to outperform the vast majority of factory-built alternatives.
